Passion in motion.

Every boat has a story to tell. Every one unique apart from the relentless attention to detail and pure passion for boating. The composition of Makara is the perfect blend of the finest materials and finishes. Carefully and aesthetically balanced for beauty and usability.

Makara combines cutting edge materials and technology with traditional boat building techniques: a finely tuned process to push boundaries in what’s possible to create by hand.

Makara was born from an idea to produce handmade boats in England, using historical techniques passed down from generations of boat builders.

The heart of Makara was born in Dorset, England. The foundations formed from the skills and passion of the local naval architects, boat builders, cabinet makers, electricians and engineers.

HAND BUILT

The design and innovation of Makara goes beyond the marine world. Carbon fibre has been used in the aerospace and automotive world for a lot longer than the marine sector. The knowledge found in these other worlds plays a significant part in Makara’s DNA.

In 2013, the use of carbon fibre chassis became the benchmark for the manufacture of hypercars. In 2014, Makara introduced its first carbon chassis encased in a fibre-reinforced core hull.

The essence of this cutting-edge technology lies in the essential role of human physical involvement. These materials all need hand-laying. Makara’s are hand-built by English craftsmen.

Philosophy

MADE NOT ASSEMBLED

When we say made in England we mean “made” and not “assembled”, a difference between us and almost all european boat yards. Quite often is the case. Every step of the production we build our boats in England. Components are not made elsewhere and then assembled at home. This way we ensure absolute quality and assurance. Every part can be traced back to the masterbuilder who built it.
